Sand Dunes

How could I forget about the dunes?!? It was so much fun!! We went over Spring Break which was March 19th through the 21st (well, Spring Break was longer than that, but that's when we went to the dunes..). We camped (like in a tent with a stinky little portable toilet set up in my tiny 2 man tent from when I was a kid and it reeked!!) and I suppose it wasn't too bad...just hot and stinky and very sandy. EVERYTHING got COVERED in sand, including Avery!! He loved it, though--figures, he's a boy :o) Dan rented a Rhino (seats 4) and his girls mom and step-dad were there already and had a Ranger (seats 6) and some quads. Joe (thier step-dad) took anyone who wanted to for a ride up this really steep hill. I got to go up a couple times, cuz I complained we didn't catch any air, so he swung back around and the second time was FUN!! They left the next day and we stayed a bit longer (except for Lauryn :o( who'd had enough by then..). I got to drive the Rhino a few times...only not when Dan was around, cuz that was just bad... I did get it stuck, though. I blame it on mechanical difficulties ;o) Dan had to walk out to where me and Kallie, Andi, and Jarin were at (leaving Maddy, Ally, Bryt, and Avery at camp) and he and a couple guys he saw on the way helped pull it out of the sand. Really, though...he said it wasn't handling right the next time he took it out either...the one tire had deflated over night and he got it aired back up before I took it out, but it still wasn't right or something... Anyway, it was a blast and I think everyone had fun, and didn't get too badly burnt (I kept sunblock on everyone except for the last day when we were packing up...oops.). I would definitely go again!!

Hello to anyone that might be reading my blog (although I'm not sure why anyone would...I never update it). I really am going to try to keep this more current :o) Last weekend our family (all 10 of us) went on a hike. We went to this trail that none of us had ever been to before. Of course I forgot my camera (but I did remember lots of granola bars!!), but Lauryn brought hers. If you check out her Facebook page, you can see some pics. from the trail. Then we came home and (with the exception of Jarin, who fell asleep on the way home, and stayed asleep when Dan carried him to the couch-WOW!) the kids got on the trampoline and we put the hose under it and they had fun jumping. Then they got on the ground and played around in the grass/mud. I did get some pics. of that!! I pressed some flowers that the kids collected on the hike. Allyson helped me pick the best ones to press before she went outside to play. Fun times!!
